The Basics
I’m a social worker experienced in working with adults, teens, couples and families. I graduated from Vassar College with a degree in Psychology, received my Masters in Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work in 1997 and am licensed to work with clients in the State of NJ. I’m passionate about helping my clients on their journey to wellness, and believe therapists should never stop learning and growing, themselves. There is always something new to learn whether from working with clients, attending classes or from one’s own personal experiences. Presently, I am being supervised toward independent licensure by Nichole C. Inya-Agha, LCSW.

As far as my Social Work career, I have additional training in family therapy from the Ackerman Institute, as well as experience and training in CBT, ACT, grief and loss, stress-management, mindfulness, trauma, personality disorders, sex therapy, and also have experience working with the LGBTQ+ community.

How I work
I work with clients through their mental health needs in a supportive, compassionate, respectful and caring environment. My approach is strengths-based, person-centered and trauma-informed. So what does that all mean? I view the therapist-patient relationship as collaborative, meaning that, as a therapist, I am here to listen to your story respectfully, with an open mind, and to ask questions that help us both develop a deeper understanding of the issues that brought you to my office (or my screen).  From there, we will come up with a treatment plan together, identifying specific goals and objectives for therapy based on a treatment approach that will work best for you. Together, we can work to help you identify problematic patterns, identify your strengths, and learn new skills to address, manage and overcome the challenges you face.

A little more about me…
I was born and raised in New York City and have also lived in upstate NY and Los Angeles, CA, before settling with my family and 2 dogs in NJ. In my professional life, I’ve worked with at-risk women and children in an outpatient setting in Manhattan and the Bronx, with clients in a residential recovery program, with families and couples in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn and previously worked in private practice in NYC.

I’ve been passionate about helping others since I was young, and I’ve volunteered with several Social Service agencies over the years, including Meals on Wheels, GMHC in NY, and, more recently, Edge in NJ.

Whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, grief or loss, trauma, family, relationship or other issues that are impacting your quality of life, I look forward to working with you to understand and address those issues and learn new skills to help you heal, move forward, grow and thrive on your personal journey towards wellness!
